Students of St. John’s may participate in the hot lunch program, or they may bring cold lunch. Milk is available for students who bring their own lunches. The lunch menu for each month is published and sent home with the students. Lunches, including milk, are $2.25. Milk is sold for $ .40 each.
The St. John’s School lunch program operates through a satellite program of North Clackamas School District #12. Our lunch count for the day must be phoned in at 8:45 a.m. each morning. If your child/ren are going to be late and want hot lunch, please phone before 8:45 a.m. with their choice. ANY STUDENT WHO DOES NOT GET ON THE LUNCH COUNT BEFORE IT IS PHONED IN WILL BE GIVEN A SUBSTITUTE LUNCH WHICH WILL FULFILL THE NUTRITIONAL STANDARDS. THEIR LUNCH TICKET WILL BE CHARGED FOR THIS SUBSTITUTE LUNCH. This will ensure that students who do order lunch will have adequate portions. All aspects of the hot lunch program are now computerized. Students participating in our hot lunch program will be provided with a “meal account”. Program spreadsheets will provide each student with their own accounting sheet showing beginning balance and daily usage. These individual sheets will “flag” a low balance, a “charge” status, as well as permission to draw from a family member’s funds to pay for a lunch or milk. All low balances will be called up on a weekly basis and sent home via the family envelope.
Free lunches or reduced-price lunches are available for students whose family income corresponds to guidelines sent out each year by the State Department. These guidelines and applications will be made available to you with your fall school packet.
