The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a ten-member council consisting of the Pastor, the Principal, and ten+ voting parishioners. It is an advisory group whose responsibility is to recommend or advise on policy pertinent to school management, finances, and operation of the school. The Council is dedicated to promoting educational excellence.
Elections are held on the first Sunday of May at all Masses if multiple candidates desire the open positions. Members for these three-year positions are elected by written ballot at this time.
The School Advisory Council will follow Archdiocesan policies as they apply to St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
Council Meeting and Communication with Council Members:
- Parents are welcome to attend open session and do not have to notify the Council Chairperson or Principal to attend meetings. People wishing to speak must submit their presentation for prior approval for it to be included on the agenda. (See number 2 below for the approval process.) Only those individual’s with approved agenda items will be allowed to address their topic (item) during open session. Meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.
- Presentations of any kind will need to be approved by the Principal and Chairperson fifteen (15) days prior to the meeting, using the designated request form in order to be included on the agenda.
- Items presented at the meeting in open session will be discussed in executive session. The executive session portion of the meeting will be closed.
- The Council will be informed of outcome or disposition of items referred to the Principal.
